don't you point that thing at me!

i took this picture (yes, my camera rocks) on my most recent trip to the audubon zoo in new orleans.

the setting. creepy. because. this fly was on a tree infested with a gazillion - nay, a quadragazillion other flies. and. these creatures were not enclosed in an acrylic cage or in a housed exhibit. no. these flies were out in the open.

they.were.wild.

just look see how this fly sticks out his probiscus. all exposed with no shame. wild! wild, tell you!

Ewww, but great photo.

BTW, mine didn't bounce, thankfully! I did my hopework beforehand though -- business check, references, etc. -- and it was a great experience. Each rep has their own business though, I think, so you should definitely ask for references if you ever plan to attend one again.

Pretty close-up of the fly and very funny post.

Long time no see. Hope you will drop on by and check us out.

All I can think of is what the fly is thinking as you took that picture. "Gee, lady, can't you tell I need some privacy here?"

eww. i think i prefer the not-so-wild-wild. the kind that has no exclamation point at the end. like, wild. no wild!s here and definately no WILD!s. yikes.

swarms of anything are too wild for me to witness in person. I think I'll stick to the occasional blip on tv.

besides, the sciency-tific part of me might have to observe the said swarm and put my get-the-hell-out-of-here part of me in complete and utter danger.

Check out the probiscus on that fly! I bet his little fly wife was all "do you have to always take that thing out in public?" and he was all "it's my gift and my curse" and she was all "eye roll".

Who was it that shook the tree and those yucky little flies fled by the thousands.
