so this past saturday, i ran in disney's royal family 5k (part of the princess half marathon weekend). and i was awesome. so awesome, in fact, that i tore up my knee. i know! just like a professional athlete!i don't care though. because i finished. and according to my gps watch, it took me 36:02 to run the race. but. it also took me like two minutes to weave through everyone. plus. my knee hurt. so. if my calculations are correct, i could've finished in like six minutes. give or take thirty minutes.
lemme tell you. i had a blast. probably because i had such good friends to run with. i mean, dude. we had tutus and feathers. we were rockin' it. people were coming up to us and asking us if they could take our picture! like we were famous! or. maybe they were doing it so they could blog about "those foolish girls with chickens on their heads". doesn't matter. you know why? because anything before six am doesn't matter. that's why.
too bad anything after eight am does matter. because after the race, that's when my right shoulder touched a portable potty. i thought it was a wall. but apparently, walls don't move. or leak. my friend (nessa) saved me from completely leaning against it. unfortunately, she couldn't save me from gagging.
speaking of which. i saw a lady spit her water out. it was way gross. this happened during the race. in canada, actually. eh? oh yeah. we ran through epcot. so basically, it took me about twelve minutes to run around the world. psh, 80 days my foot.
next year, i'm doing the half marathon. i wonder what joey fatone will do. oh. did i forget to mention he was there? maybe it's because i didn't see him. but some of my friends did - as they were passing him up.

i like the pink hair. er. feathers. half marathon. you're my hero. all i'm going to to say is ew. porta-potties gross me out. this coming from the same chick that can't get the poop smell out of her hands. weird, i know. spitting women. wow. if a spittoon were involved i might be impressed instead of disgusted.
sincerely,
your friend that refuses to run to the bathroom. <3
you guys all look so cute!! and dude you're the shiz....running is tough! and i'm going to disneyland next week...but i'll be walking and eating...like i said, running is tough!
Next year I'm coming...my husband was in Orlando golfing last weekend...so had I known..anyway..
You guys are so cute, glad you had a great time, despite the porta-potty and the knee brace!
Very cool. Interesting, Funny, Very, very Wini! congrats on the run.
I love the tutus!!
If I had been there, I'd have been armed with water bottles, wet naps and kleenex. Because I'm like a jock strap. I'm supportive.
Fancy Girl Scout trained.
You all did fabulous! I've never been to Epcot, or Florida for that matter. Running around the world in 8 min sounds like a blast.
Oh wow, I'm in awe of you, just like I'm in awe of real runner people. Sorry you tore up your knee, now matter how prof. runner it is!! And ew. Sorry even more that your arm touched a porta-potty. gag.
Stopping by from SITS and wishing you a great day! :)
If you touch another porta-potty I am not holding your hand the next time we run.
Oh winn, I am so exhaustaned...I can garyly keep my eyes open...I hope this isn't due to old age man, I would need to seek some thervarpy if that's the case...
Insomnia troys with my mind...
You know how important #1 is I am sure...you didn't run to lose, you ran to winn...
Hmmmm that did nothing to my stance...
Sometimes you have to fight vard for what you want, like, to be the first, the best, #1...because #2 stinks. It does. I must hold it man, the space, not #1 or #2...well, yes...#1...but...I need sleep.
why is kim stalking you more than me? i don't like this. i don't like it at all.
your knee really hurt. i get it. but that knee brace makes you look even more legit. word.
Congrats on your race.
Did you know I ran a marathon once? The key word in that sentence is ONCE.
The only parts of me that run these days are my nose and my mouth.
dang 5k? That's impressive!!
i think i can maybe walk 5k, over a period of a week or so!
and you did it with all that pink feathers flying around.
good job!!
Next year I'm waiting to see you at the 1/2 Marathon! I'm enjoying your blog. I've gotta get my post about the princess 1/2 up soon!
Hi, here from SITS! Oh, I like you. I really do.
I don't know if you live here in the sunny state of the tropics, but I do and just around the corner from the Mouse. We're going for the weekend, (as I grumble). In my fancy opinion, I'm not a big lover of the crowds and the lines, but my family? They're just a bunch of mouse freaks. I spend all my time in the countries, usually in France drinking wine.
Congrats on the half-marathon. I come from a family of marathonists, (Not moi) and I'll hog up your blog with a cute marathon story.
My sister lives right on the path that the Chicago marathon takes every year. This one year, thanks to an injury, she couldn't run. But, she had a marathon party and most of her group stood outside supporting the runners. My other sister's husband stayed inside to watch TV. My sister saw a runner doing the potty dance and looking for an available port-a-let. There were none available and my sister yelled to her and told her to go up to her apartment, the door was open and use the bathroom.
The runner burst through the door and said to my shocked brother-in-law, "Where's the bathroom!"
He silently pointed and then went to the window and yelled out, "Hey, did you guys let a runner in here? If not, we could be in trouble."
I love that story. I am so amusing myself right now with it. But, truly love your blog. I'm adding you to my faves.
you rock lady. also i hate to admit it but i spit when i run sometimes. but then again i run alone at 9:30pm. & spit in the bushes. i would not spit in a crowd. i hate how my saliva gets all thick ya'know.
That looks like SO much fun! Sorry about hurting your knee, though. :( THE PINK TUTUS ARE ADORABLE!! All of it is!
whoa good job doing the 5K. I want to do the whole couch to 5K thing but my couch will get jealous of my sneakers.
Does anyone say sneakers anymore?
Happy SITS day!
Your post is so funny! You and your friends looked awesome. I have to admit I have a fear of porta potties. And by fear, I really mean it. Every time I hover over one of those things to, well, go, I am afraid something will just pop up from inside and try to grab me!!! My friends think this is funny, and I don't quite know why the heck a reasonable person like me thinks it may actually happen. LOL!
Stopping in from SITS. Congratulations you your day!
Those outfits are so funny! Thanks for the morning chuckle!
Congrats on your SITS day!
Hi! I'm stopping over from SITS! Happy SITS day! I love your sense of humor. You are hilarious. Congrats on the run, and your awesome outfits.
Yeah, I'm gonna need to know where you got those tutus, like, immediately.
Anyone who runs in feathers and tutus is my kinda woman! And, you have friends who share your joy. You are one lucky lady. And, this blog is a hoot. I run like 4 miles in 50 minutes. Little kids who are crawling pass me. But, you know what? I don't care. I'm out there, right? But, maybe next time, I'll add a feather and then some bling...
If I were to run, it would have to be either in a) Disney (how fun!) or b) in a pink tutu. Obviously, that is the only way to do it!!! Just because I like to work up a sweat doesn't mean that I don't like to be pretty, right?? Maybe I'll meet up with you next year. I'll be the one with the leopard running skirt with black eathe boa. :)
Love the tutus! Great touch :o) LOL. Stopping by from SITS. Happy SITS Day. New Follower too
Wow! Running! You are the bomb. I absolutely love the tutus!
you can run in a pink tutu!?!
you are not just a princess, you are a true athlete.
Congrats on finishing the race. You guys look great!
I saw one of the other girls you ran with who blogged about the race. This is AWESOME!!
Half marathon next year 12 minutes! No excuses. LOL.
:-)
sounds like so much fun... I wanna wear a pink tutu and boa too.. where can I sign up for next year... oh wait,I forgot... I'm lazy. :0)
happy SITS day!
That's so great that you finished! Hope your knee is okay. Stopping by from SITS.
What an awesomely fun event! Speaking of bad lady manners and public toilets, what's up with the way some women leave public restroom stalls? Where do these people come from? Were they raised in a barn? In the woods? How hard is it to "aim" when you're sitting on a seat? And what's with all the paper products on the floor? I don't get people.
Joey is such a princess! This sounds so much fun!
So I've heard about some gross stuff people do when they run marathons ... and I'm not talkin' spitting .... (think diapers)... anyways "congrat"s on your S.I.T.S. day!Love the post & your site. Pop over to www.southernMOMentum.com when you get a chance. I'd love to have you guest contribute for us sometime!
How fun- you girls were really rockin' those feathers. I hope your knee is healed up nicely.
Way to go on the 5K! Love the tutus and feathers! Happy SITS day!
Eck. Port-a-potties are horrid.
Congrats on the 1/2 marathon! You rock! I love the costumes. Way too cute.
Stopping in from SITS.
Ugh, totally. My skin crawled at the *mention* of the porta potty. Seriously. I think people's bodily functions and bodily function receptacles need to stay firmly where they live.
Maybe I'm just old fashioned. ;)
Keely
I love the feathers! And that's a decent time for a 5K! Better than I've ever done!
Happy SITS day a little late! LOVE the tutu's!
Hahaha sorry but the costumes- great- spitting and porta potties EWWWWWWWWWWWWWW that's so d'nasty as Dev would say.
Good for finishing the race-
