so i just finished reading the story of easter to my girls. well. girl. baby ran away mid book to play with dolls. but li'l tot was pretty much set on listening to the entire book. mainly because every time i turned the page, she was like "hey! that's in my bible!". i think she enjoyed the familiarity of the book. or. maybe she was trying to find something that wasn't in her bible. not gonna happen. because this book follows the word. word.the set up of the book is great. easy to read. big "chapter" titles, followed by verse references. the illustrations are relevant and appropriately focus on each chapter's story. great for my four year old and probably great for your ten year old, too.
in the back of the book, there is a "can you retell the story" section filled with scrambled pictures. li'l tot was able to point out pictures in the correct sequence and tell me what each picture represented. man. it was a proud moment. of course, that was immediately after we finished reading. who knows what will happen two hours from now. probably she'll ask me to read the book again.
this book also comes with a dvd. oh yeah, bo-nus! it's a short 18 minute movie that includes "six stories from the life of jesus". and thanks to the dvd, i was able to write up most of this review in semi-peace. i'm gonna go ahead and shout out an amen to that.
i enjoyed this book. but that's not important. what's important is li'l tot enjoyed it. and you can tell because its current resting place is in her play kitchen sink. that's a good thing. actually. i wonder if it could have anything to do with the chapter on "the first lord's supper". i mean. li'l tot does insist on serving bread in her restaurant.

ps. i received this complimentary book from thomas nelson publishers - specifically for review. i did not receive anything else - monetary or otherwise. i was not required to write a positive review. and. this lovely post you just read is comprised of my own personal opinions. i say what i want, yo.

Well, I think it sounds lovely, and bonus on the DVD.
And, no, you do not seem to be the type of person to say a n y t h i n g unless you mean it.
when she insist on serving wine with the bread thats when you worry ;-)
It'll be even better when there's felt bread in that there kitchen.
Fancy plug.
Ya know, just because.
I wish you would read to me...that was a garyate review.
Now, make me hot and sour soup and then read me the LOTR nasw series while I slurp my soup. Shirley you have some fresh Britta water? Oh, I need a naptan while you're up too, I am kind of messy...
I need distinct charactvarization when I am read to as well, or else I get really confused, so, be practicing.
I don't demand too much. I'm just a simple old gitl man, with simple needs...

By the way, get some sleep...you look tired...

So at our Easter egg hunt, will this story be read by you to the children?
I really like the sounds of this book.
YES! I was so talking about you! (Normally I would send such a personal word in email but that is down so deal..) That is a precious book and I think my daughter would love it. She's 19 but still prefers children's books. Have a great Thursday!
My son is all about Jesus. Maybe he's be all about this book.
Thanks so much for your review. I just love Easter and this looks like a wonderful book. Hope you have a wonderful weekend. Cheers, Lia
