sometimes i get scared and jump out of the water because i think i see sharks. and that's just in my pool.

this past saturday, our family had a beach day. i'm not a big fan of the beach. but the girls love it. so i tolerate it. helloooo. "mom" spelled upside down is "wow". that's no coincidence.

baby and i spent most of the time digging sand under the umbrella shade while li'l tot and my hubby fought the waves. literally. they were kicking and punching and screaming at the one foot giant curls. it was like watching a karate kid remake. again.

also. i'm going to take this opportunity to tell you what my hubby was wearing. you know those desert hats? the ones with the visors and neck flaps? well. that. that's what he was wearing. that and water shoes. seriously.

on the one hand, i wanted to cry on the inside. on the other hand, i had kleenex.

as we were doing our thing, i noticed the man (who had been surf fishing near us) start to reel in his rod. and it was a fight. so i knew it'd be a great catch for my girls to see.

the man's line came to an end and there on the hook was the biggest scariest three foot baby shark. and of course, we ran over to see it.

the man pulled the hook out and held the shark firmly so my girls could touch it. what an awesome experience! i mean. i know you can touch sharks at fancy aquariums, but we don't have one in my town. plus. this was a live and wild thrashing man eating miniature shark!

after our encounter, we started our walk back to the car. now. i'm not one to let an educational moment pass us by, so i told the girls that when we got home, we would research our beach and sharks that are native to it.

no need. because li'l tot immediately knew what kind of shark it was. a laxamellex. and she knew this by the shark markings and it's "yellow and a little bit of gray" colors. it's apparently a very rare breed as google was unable to give me any information on it.

i tell you. li'l tot is a genius. she gets it from her dad. thankfully, however, she get's her sense of style from me.

ps. this is a snapshot from that day. as drawn by li'l tot and her eidetic memory. there's the enormous killer baby shark on the left. (i kept telling her to draw it bigger but she insisted it was tiny. whatev.) baby is up front making a sand castle. li'l tot drew herself in the background playing in the water. oh look. can you guess who that is in the big obnoxious hat? yeah. then there's me on the right. wow. if only i actually had a body to wear a bandeau suit.

pps. oh. and in the top right corner is a man parasailing. li'l tot calls him the "parachute man". i call him the guy who probably pees into the water from way up high.

Where can I get me one of them hawt hats for my Hubs? Also, your legs are so skinny. I'm actually jealous of a drawing. Also, all your Tiger Mom efforts are paying off, soon L'il Tot will be on Shark Week, narrating and being an expert on the show.

Do you know that 10% of kids have some degree of eidectic memory? Psychology nerd - can't help myself!

I totally love her picture. Frame-worthy.

Sounds like a lovely day.
Minus the hat. Not so sure the word 'lovely' applies there..

That is awesome. If I saw a shark, I would be like "Awesome" and show the Toddler. The Husband would be like "Run for your lives! Shark!"
